Belted Bravery

Another picture outside today. Figure I might as well take advantage of the fall weather while it lasts.

Starting from the bottom up, tho barely visible in the grass, the red sling back shoes are from Payless, the jeans are Wrangler and getting too big. I'm carrying the same brown bag as yesterday, it's just backward in the photo. The plum, velvet jacket is from NY&Co, the new necklace was bought on sale and is from JCPenny.

Last but not least, I got the black sweater years ago at the Avenue and it's a Plus size 18...a bit too big for me now that I've lost more weight, thus the belt. As I mentioned at the end of my last post, I need a little bit of courage to wear a belt, lol, but under this jacket I guess I'm feeling pretty brave ;)

Off to run errands and go hither & yond, all by myself, DH's with the kids -- yay!

PS: my legs oddly look very short in this shot, but the outfit shows better & you can see the shoes more when you click on it so I decided to include it.

Nice!

I don't know if you were planning on taking off your jacket, but if your sweater is too big, maybe it's time to send it to the thrift store.

I don't want you to look lumpy!

Though, with the belt, it might still look really lovely on you.

Love the shoes!

Hi Fashion Therapist, thanks for dropping by here, too!

And thanks Mrs M....of course you are absolutely right. In fact, I was about to send the sweater off for donation when I was sorting thru my winter stuff, but decided to see if I could just squeeze a wee bit more life out of it by belting it (not to mention experiment w/belting while I was at it). Honestly I don't think the sweater is worthy of going jacket-free, tho, so when I find it's replacement, out it goes, lol!

Love the jacket! I don't know what the shirt and belt looks like on its own but all together (as pictured) I like. ;O)

I love how you venture outside for your pictures. I am not that bold....and my neighbors are nosy and chatty. I don't feel like answering all of their questions. ;O)

Ohthatgirl, thanks!

I've been wondering what the neighbors must think, lol. I just really love the natural lighting, so I'm willing to risk the curiousity -- for now anyway. So far no one's asked.

Just wanted to say you have a great blog! I too am nervous to experiment with belts - no idea why! It's one of my goals for this winter though. Looking forward to reading more!

Thanks so much, trace! And you know, my goal is to wear more belts too. Funny thing about belts is that if you get it right they can REALLY demarcate your waist nicely -- get it "wrong" and they make you look thicker. One of these days I'm going to play dress-up and try on a bunch of outfits w/various belts to experiment. Maybe I'll do a photo montage of the results :)
